Template problems

Rejected
Meta refused the template. Work through this order, because the first item is the most common cause by a wide margin.
-
Check the category. A promotional message filed as Utility is the number one rejection. Re-file it as Marketing.
-
Check every sample value.
xxx, testor an empty sample gets templates rejected. Use realistic values:Priya,#1042,₹1,299. -
Read the body without context. If a reviewer cannot tell what the message is for, it fails. Say the specific thing.
-
Check placeholder placement. Not at the very start or end of the body, and never two adjacent.
-
Duplicate, edit, resubmit. An approved or pending template cannot be edited in place. Use the copy icon, rename with a
_v2suffix, and submit the copy.
If Meta gives no useful reason, open WhatsApp Manager directly. It sometimes shows detail that does not come through the API.
Full guidance: getting templates approved.
Stuck on Pending
Approval is usually minutes, occasionally hours. Boldally Chat does not poll Meta continuously, so the status you see can lag.
Select Sync from Meta on Templates to pull the current status.
If it has genuinely been pending for more than a day, that is a Meta-side queue. Nothing on the Boldally side will move it.
Paused or Disabled
Meta paused or disabled the template because recipients reported or blocked messages using it.
Treat this as an audience signal, not just a wording one. Before rewriting:
- Check who received it. Was it a tagged group who opted in, or everyone?
- Check your quality rating on SettingsWhatsApp. If it has dropped to yellow or red, the template is a symptom.
- Add an opt-out line to marketing templates.
See working with contacts for opt-out handling.
A template is missing
You created it in WhatsApp Manager, or it existed before you connected Boldally Chat.
Select Sync from Meta on Templates. The toast reports how many were synced, created and updated.
The template is not offered when sending
Only Approved templates can be sent, used in a campaign or picked in an automation. Check the status badge on the template card.
If the badge says approved but it is still not offered:
- Check the language. A template exists per language.
- Select Sync from Meta in case Meta changed the status.
An automation fails on a template step
The run log will say the template is missing or not approved. Causes:
- The template was deleted. Deleting removes it from Meta too, and any automation pointing at it breaks at run time rather than at save time.
- Meta paused or disabled it.
- Someone edited it at Meta and the status went back to pending.
Fix the template, then re-save the automation so activation validation runs again. See testing automations.
Deleting a template
The confirmation says it plainly: if the template exists on Meta it is removed there too, and it cannot be undone. Check nothing points at it first: campaigns in draft and automations both reference templates by name.
