Shopify customer sync
Brings your Shopify customers into Contacts so you can tag and broadcast to them.

Run a sync
SettingsIntegrations → Shopify → Sync customers.
The card shows progress while it runs, then the result: when it last synced, how many were imported and how many were skipped. A failed sync shows the reason.
Who gets imported
Only customers who opted in to marketing SMS in your store. The card states this: "Import customers who have opted in to marketing SMS as Contacts."
Two consequences:
- If very few customers import, the usual cause is that your checkout does not offer the SMS sign-up option. See the checkout setup in connect Shopify.
- Customers with no phone number cannot be imported, because a WhatsApp contact needs one.
This is deliberate. Importing everyone regardless of consent is how businesses get their WhatsApp number reported and their quality rating cut.
Mapping Shopify data to contact fields
SettingsContact fields gains an Import from Shopify button once a store is connected. It creates field definitions mapped to Shopify customer data, so those values fill themselves in on each sync.
Fields created this way:
- Show a Shopify badge in the field list and on the contact.
- Are read-only on the contact form, marked "Synced from Shopify". Editing them by hand would be overwritten on the next sync.
Sync is not continuous
Sync customers is a manual action. Customers created in Shopify after the last sync are not in Contacts until you run it again.
Separately, a customer who places an order gets a contact record through the normal automation path when the order event arrives, so an active store fills in its own contacts over time. The bulk sync is for the back catalogue.
After importing
Remember that a campaign using a Marketing template automatically excludes contacts marked Unsubscribed, and every campaign excludes Blocked ones.
