Message Templates

WhatsApp requires pre-approved templates for all outbound messages sent outside the 24-hour session window. Manage the entire template lifecycle from your Boldally Chat dashboard.

What Are Templates?

Templates are structured messages that Meta must approve before you can send them. They're used for:

  • Marketing — promotions, offers, product launches
  • Utility — order updates, shipping notifications, payment alerts
  • Authentication — OTPs, verification codes, login confirmations

Creating a Template

  1. Go to Templates > Create Template
  2. Choose a category (Marketing, Utility, or Authentication)
  3. Build your template:
    • Header — text, image, video, or document
    • Body — your message text with optional variables like {{1}}, {{2}}
    • Footer — optional short text
    • Buttons — call-to-action or quick reply buttons
  4. Preview how it looks on a phone
  5. Click Submit for Approval

Approval Process

Templates are sent to Meta for review directly from Boldally Chat. Track the status:

  • Draft — not yet submitted
  • Pending — submitted, awaiting Meta's review
  • Approved — ready to use in campaigns and conversations
  • Rejected — didn't meet Meta's guidelines (you can edit and resubmit)

Approval typically takes a few minutes to a few hours.

Variable Mapping

When sending a template in a campaign, map variables to contact fields:

  • {{1}} → Contact name
  • {{2}} → Order number
  • {{3}} → Custom attribute

This lets you send personalized messages at scale.
